The neurobiology of psychedelic sensation, feeling, and behavior

About Sophie

Sophie is a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania studying the effect of psilocybin on predictive processing and cognitive flexibility in mouse models of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Sophie completed her Ph.D., “Effect of psilocybin on persistent aversive signaling across the cingulate cortex,” in Gregory Corder’s lab at the University of Pennsylvania in 2025, where she was an NRSA F31 fellow. Over the course of her Ph.D., Sophie discovered how psilocybin modulates retrosplenial and anterior cingulate cortex dynamics to aid recovery in mouse models of PTSD and chronic pain, resulting in multiple high impact publications. Sophie graduated magna cum laude from the University of Chicago in 2020 with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a minor in Philosophy.

In the future, Sophie intends to run a translational research laboratory using high-throughput neurophysiological recording techniques and cell-type specific optogenetics to dissect the convergent and divergent mechanisms of psychedelics’ profound transdiagnostic impact.
